About Us

Samaha Russell Hodgdon PA is Northern New Hampshire’s law firm. Its roots date back to 1846 when Harry Bingham started practicing law in Littleton. Bingham twice became a New Hampshire Supreme Court Justice but each time retired and returned to practice in Littleton. Many prominent lawyers practiced with him, including his nephew, George H. Bingham, in 1891. Henry Dodge joined Bingham in 1919 and succeeded him as Grafton County Probate Judge in 1938. In 1945 Francis W. Moulton joined Judge Dodge after practicing in Boston. Peter W. Smith left the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office to join the firm in 1966 where he practiced until he became a Superior Court Judge in 1985. Stephen U. Samaha joined the firm in 1973 after practicing with the Manchester law firm of Sheehan, Phinney, Bass & Green. Timothy J. Vaughan joined the firm in 1978 and practiced until he became a Superior Court Judge in 2003. Mark C. Russell began practicing in the Littleton area in 1985 after leaving the largest firm in West Virginia. In January, 2003 he merged his practice with the firm and it became “Samaha & Russell PA”. Jody A. Hodgdon joined the firm in 2005. This historic Littleton law firm has thus expanded its ability to offer comprehensive legal services to the citizens of the North Country.
