On view May 2 to June 27 at 2011 Main Street, Bethlehem BETHLEHEM—The Gallery at WREN is excited to announce the opening of “Hear, Here,” by Ann Steuernagel. This is an exhibition of new works derived from listening to and working with the natural environment. On display from May 2 through June 27, this captivating exhibition highlights Ann’s unique artistic approach, blending alternative photographic processes, sound, and video to evoke the intricate rhythms and gestures of the natural world. The opening reception will be held on May 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Gallery at WREN, providing the public an opportunity to meet the artist and experience her newest body of work. WREN invites you to immerse yourself in the rich, visual/sonic world of “Hear, Here” at this free community event. All are welcome. Ann Steuernagel, based in Franconia, NH, has built a distinguished career as an experimental filmmaker combining found materials such as old 16mm home movies and vinyl records with original footage and field recordings to create emotionally charged, immersive moving images. Her films have been featured in numerous festivals and galleries across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. “Hear, Here” reflects Ann’s engagement with the natural environment and her experimentation with making work that is less reliant on electricity and synthetic chemicals. The exhibition integrates alternative photography using plant material, audio derived from birch trees, non-electric movies, video and small sculpture to create a rich interplay between sound, image, and tactile materials. “Ann’s work has always been about giving voice to the natural world,” says Julia Webb, Executive Director of WREN. “With ‘Hear, Here’, she invites us to listen in new ways and see our surroundings through a lens of deep connection and quiet reverence. We are honored to host this exhibition; it’s sure to provide a thought-provoking and inspiring experience to all who visit the Gallery at WREN.” About WREN The Women’s Rural Entrepreneurial Network (WREN) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization in Bethlehem, NH.
