SUMMARY:MUSICAL ROYALTY Featuring pianist Reiko Uchida performed by the North Country Chamber Players
DESCRIPTION:Musical Royalty\n\nFeaturing pianist Reiko Uchida performed by the North Country Chamber Players\n\nSaturday\, November 16\, 2024\n\nDoors open at 1:30pm\n\nPerformance begins at 2pm\n\nGrand Ballroom of the Omni Mount Washington Resort\n\nThroughout the Renaissance\, Baroque and Classical periods in western Europe\, all professional musicians were employed either by the Church or a Royal Court and were considered part of the servant class. In the spirit of the French Revolution\, Beethoven was the first musician\, or artist of any kind\, to reject the notions of birthrights and social hierarchies and pave the way for future generations\, like the 19th century German composer\, Carl Reinecke\, to be honored and appreciated for their talents and accomplishments alone. Edward Elgar\, perhaps the culmination of this journey towards respect\, was knighted at Buckingham Palace in July 1904. On this program\, listeners will hear an early Piano Sonata of Beethoven's described by one famous critic as "an exquisite little work\," and Reinecke's melodic and lyrical Trio that showcases the oboe and horn in their best light. Finally\, Sir Edward's unabashedly romantic Piano Quintet is often lush\, sometimes ghostly or serene\, but always eloquent and dramatic\n\nThe North Country Chamber Players are recognized as one of New England's finest musical ensembles for over forty-five years\, the North Country Chamber Players combines the talents of principal players from internationally renowned orchestras and chamber groups. Their world-class performances of old and new classics in relaxed and comfortable settings have made the Chamber Players a fixture of northern New Hampshire's cultural scene.\n\nThe North Country Chamber Players offers a "Pay-What-You-Wish" ticket pricing model to make their concerts accessible to everyone.\n\nRecommended ticket price: $25 (payable at the door).
