On Wednesday September 6th at 6:30pm Littleton Public Library will host Littleton author and White Mountain history buff Mike Dickerman. Dickerman will discuss and read from his book, Mount Washington: Narratives and Perspectives, which is being re-issued this summer by The History Press of Charleston, South Carolina. Originally published in 1999, but out of print for more than a decade, this anthology looks back at the fascinating history of New England's highest peak through more than twenty previously written pieces, some dating back more than two centuries.
These carefully selected pieces, chosen and edited by Dickerman, cover nearly aspect of the mountain's storied past, including early explorations of the Presidential Range, the history of the nation's first mountain-climbing train, and tales of human tragedies on this iconic New Hampshire landmark. The new reprint edition, to be published in July 2017, also features more than 40 photographs, many of them new to this edition.
Dickerman's presentation will include a Powerpoint program and brief readings from several of the volume's chapters.
