Event Description:
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an evidence-informed approach for assisting children, adolescents, adults, and families in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic incident. This 5-hour course with didactic presentation and group participation is for all audiences, including anyone with a healthcare background. Instructors will introduce Psychological First Aid, including how and when it can be used, as well as core actions to practice.

Principles and techniques of PFA meet four basic standards:
  • Consistent with research evidence on risk and resilience following trauma
  • Applicable and practical in field settings
  • Appropriate to developmental level across the lifespan
  • Culturally informed
